Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) belonged to the Banu Hashim clan of the Quraysh tribe. Banu Hashim was a noble and respected clan in Makkah. His grandfather Abdul Muttalib and uncle Abu Talib were its leaders. The Quraysh as a whole were the custodians of the Kaaba and held significant political influence in Arabia.
