Ijma refers to the consensus of Islamic scholars on a particular legal matter. It is one of the four major sources of Islamic law after the Quran and Sunnah. The Prophet (PBUH) stated that his Ummah would never agree on an error which forms the theological basis for treating scholarly consensus as a valid legal source.
