Nifaq refers to hypocrisy in Islamic theology — the condition of outwardly professing Islam while harboring disbelief or malice inwardly. Those guilty of Nifaq are called Munafiqeen (hypocrites). The Quran dedicates Surah Al-Munafiqun (Chapter 63) entirely to describing and warning against this trait which the Prophet identified as extremely dangerous to the Muslim community.
